Transit for All is an organizing campaign to expand and improve public transit in Chicago and Illinois. We are fighting for safe, equitable, accessible and affordable transit for all Chicagoans.

Transit for All press conference on Transit Equity Day, February 4th 2022 in Chicago. February 4th is Rosa Parks’ birthday. Every Feb. 4th, riders, workers and allies call for transit equity across the country.

The Transit 4 All Campaign is organizing to:

1)  Build a powerful coalition of community organizations, workers, and advocates to expand Chicago transit in a way that is both financially and racially equitable.

2) Establish a transit rider union that represents all of Chicago, and works in coalition with unions, community organizations, and policymakers to create transit system that works for all of us.

Transit for All Petition: It’s time to speed up Chicago’s CTA!

This year, the City of Chicago and the CTA received $118 million from the federal government to improve CTA operations. We demand the City and CTA spend funds on hiring more bus and train operators so we can:

  • Keep up with published CTA schedules

  • Increase service, including better weekend and evening service, so we don’t we have long wait times

  • Cleaner, well maintained buses and trains

  • Improved safety on public transit

  • Prevent current CTA staff from burning out due to short staffing

CTA needs to offer more money in signing and retention bonuses to workers now to compete with employers like FedEx and UPS. We want and deserve world class public transit for all Chicagoans. But we can’t get there without more operators.

Sign on now and demand the City & CTA take action to save our public transit system!
